Alan Rowan has been a journalist for more than 40 years, working in Dundee, Aberdeen and on a variety of national newspapers in Glasgow. He held executive positions for 12 years on the Daily Record, including five years as sports editor. He is now semi-retired and spends his time tramping Scotland's hills and writing about the great outdoors for newspapers and magazines.
He has completed three rounds of Munros, and is currently closing in on a fourth. In 2019, he also completed a Full House, which comprises the Corbetts, Grahams, Donalds, Munro Tops and Furths (3000-foot peaks in England, Ireland and Wales). He is married with two daughters and lives near Dundee on Scotland's sunny east coast.
Alan's debut book, Moonwalker: Adventures of a Midnight Mountaineer, was published by BackPage Press in 2014 and can be purchased via Amazon. The follow-up, A Mountain Before Breakfast, came out in 2016, and the third, Mountains of the Moon, in 2019 to complete the trilogy. He recently launched a new ebook series, the Moonwalker Chronicles.
